Restaurants in Iceland
The Icelandic restaurant scene is vibrant and exciting. You can find everything from classic french and italian cuisine to modern Nordic cooking and ethnic fare. Dining out in Reykjavík is a cosmopolitan experience. The local produce that every visitor must sample is the lamb as well as the abundance of the freshest seafood you will ever see, that is if you don't catch the fish yourself. Most quality restaurants are concentrated in the Reykjavík area but you will find high level cooking all around the country if you look carefully. And thanks to the current weakness of the Icelandic króna, its much cheaper than it used to be.
The following restaurants are a selection made by Steingrímur Sigurgeirsson who for 20 years was the food and wine writer of the newspaper Morgunblaðið.
