Looking for Icelandic home style cooking? The bistro-style Laugaás has been a favorite among many locals since it opened in 1979. Far away from the trendy restaurants of downtown Reykjavík both in style and substance it is located at Laugarásvegur a few minutes walk from the main municipial swimming pool in Laugardalur.
The menu has remained solidly conservative through its lifespan attracting families and a loyal and numeours group of regulars. You can usually find a creamy langoustine soup as well as bisque-style fish soup. Hearty pasta dishes are on offer but if you want the true feeling go for either the gratinated fish or the leg of lamb with béarnaise-sauce, served with salad and a baked potato.
And its hard to beat the prices.
