Update – september 2011 – the La Primavera has sadly closed due to the opening of Kolabrautin by the same team.
The La Primavera in downtown Reykjavík has been the best adress for almost two decades when it comes to mixing italian cooking with the best Icelandic produce. Seeking inspiration to the country cooking of Tuscany, Veneto and Piedmont as well as the style developed at restaurants like the River Cafe it is a sure bet for a delicious and inspired meal. The dishes are usually pure and simple but at the same time delicate with an elaborate blending of flavours and texture.
Although „italian“ it is also one of Iceland’s best seafood restaurants. Try the sole, wolffish or halibut whenever it is on offer.
Located on the second floor in a beautiful building in Austurstræti the dining room is bright and stylish. Service is courteous and efficient and the wine list, although not very expansive, offers a nice range of Italian whites and red.
The set menu lunch is one of the best offers in the country and the carpaccio has remained on the menu from the beginning due to its never diminishing popularity.
